  • Notes
    • Birth details obtained from South Australian Births 1842-1906 book 269 page 329 district code Cla.

Tom was a Councillor for several years on the District Council of Pirie. Apart from farming, Tom was interested in horses. Horses were used to pull the equipment on the farm and Tom kept Clydesdales. He had two stallions which were used to service the mares in the district so that farmers could increase their stocks. When the Clydesdales were sold Tom became interested in trotting horses and made his own trotting track at the farm so the he could train his horses. Murl has at home a large silver trophy called the Flett Cup. This was won by tom as his horse "Norah Brook" won the race three times and he could therefore keep the cup.
