    Notes
    • George was known as a 'loner' and was not very close to his family. He was a far laborer on a property at Parilla and Geranium. He had a rather wry sense of humour, and had a habit of speaking where he always left off the 'g' at the end of the word. He loved to tell him nieces and nephews a story of himself concerning a mirror, 'begad! I was standing in this room one day, and I thought to myself, Begad, I know that man over there. He has a pipe like mine....the same hat...and begad the same trousers. When I moved, he moves, and when I stuck out me hand to shake his, begad, he did the same. Begad, I knew then that the man was me.... I was standing in front of a mirror! Begad!"
He always told his nieces and nephews that he came to see them from "Prilla" and would roll the 'r' and encourage his young relatives to copy the rolling 'r'. They would fall into fits of giggles, and try to emulate the funny rolled 'r' (obtained from 'The Tuckers in Australia" 1992)
