Notes |
- Murray was born at the home of his aunt Lou Coulls, on a very hot day 106 degrees Fahrenheit in the shade), weighing only 4 pounds. He attended the Croydon Primary School and the Junior Technical High School at Croydon. As a child he suffered ear problems and remembers vividly his mother warming peroxide and pouring it into his ears, hoping to ease the pain with her home medicines. Murray enjoyed playing cricket and football, and now enjoys a game of golf. He enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in 1944 and after the war resumed his employment with W. Eglinton Ltd until his retirement in 1988, having worked his way up to the position of Works Manager. His main hobbies have been gardening and bird-breeding, and building a holiday home at Ardrossan, South Australia.
